We know that many of you were disappointed when we announced that we were doing away with “Links of the Week,” mainly because you said so. But our intentions were never to leave you in that state, so we created something even better. Forget Links of the Week, how about Links of the Day?! That’s exactly what UPFONT is. We feel like we’ve delivered and that many of you are fully recovering from your state of disappointment. But then we thought, why don’t we do a weekly recap of the Upfronts for those that still want weekly links. So that’s why today we are starting the Upfront Week in Review!
Enough talk, let’s go:
- A new study from the Barna Group is out over social networking, digital technology, and the church.
- Is the MacBook Air dangerous?
- In the book world, Wired’s Gadget Lab says analog still beats digital. And it’s was cheeper too!
- Alan Noble asks the question, “Should we Christians vote with our dollars?” (in relation to the film industry)
- If you haven’t already, it’s time to throw away your WWJD bracelets and ask yourself “What Would Jesus Twitter?”
- Here’s a new phone case that is made from a 3M technology used to protect Apache helicopters. They should make everything out of this stuff.
- Will Twitter’s constant downtime lead to its failure? Well if you leave your “Out to Lunch” sign up all the time, it can’t be easy to stay in business.
- Sony shows off its 0.3mm thin OLED display at D6. Wow. And I thought my 20″ CRT monitor was cool…
- Bands say goodbye to CD’s, hello to donuts??
- Joshua Cody reviews Daniel Kantor’s new book Graphic Design and Religion: A Call for Renewal.
- Check out Cisco’s new tele-hologram thingy. Which multi-site church will be the first to own one?
Noteworthy Rejects (those that didn’t make the Upfront page):
- A cat helps save a Japanese Railway. Hello Kitty!
- A French skydiver was attempting to set a new free-fall record when his ride left without him.
- Earlier this week, the space station’s toilet stopped working. Stinks for them!
- A monkey was taught to control a robotic arm with just its brain. Are the scientists trying to bring about the end of the world?!
Well that’s it for this week’s Upfront Week in Review. Enjoy your weekend!
