I just posted an article I wrote called “The Seven Twitterers You Meet In the Twitterverse,” in which I profile a few different species of Twitter user. If you have a minute, go read the article and let me know two things:

1) Do you fall under one or more category of Twitterer?

2) What other species of Twitterer have you observed out there? Maybe we can come up with seven more.

Fun list, though I’d also submit another group: Twooglers.

These people, often confused with the Indecisive Instant Pollers, have found that they can often find answers faster AND more accurately than using Google. As a result, they’ve grown their network for followers for the sole purpose of leveraging the vast amounts of knowledge and experience as a more efficient way of searching for information.

Instant messenger twitters drive me insane. I am a bit of a mystery twitterer however, not so vague. I would agree with Anthony and only wish I had a list of followers to utilize the info and “personality” of twitter resources, especially if those that follow you are in the same arena as you are. It’s pretty powerful in a creative meeting. Just ask raggamuffinsoul.

I don’t fall into any of these categories. I think I’m more of a Stealth Twitter…or Thwitter? I’m lurking, reading, digesting, but only on occasion because I just don’t have time to Twitter my day away!

Great list but you forgot the “automatic feeders.” These are people who aren’t actually on Twitter but have set up their blogs with an automatic feed. He’s great but Mark Driscol (pastormark) comes to mind.

There is one that you missed. The lonely and shy twitter. Usually unemployed or unhealthy. A person who would desperately like to make friends, but is afraid to @username for fear of not getting a reply. Which usually is the case when they do @ username. I know, because I fall into that category. You would be surprised at how many like me their are on twitter and other social networking web sites. I do not know if there is a way of finding out.

Great article! I am guilty of being a mixed twitterer. A couple of other categories come to mind – Firstly, there is the new breed of celebrity tweeters – which has the sub categories of those who tweet for themselves (often promoting and pushing causes and RT others) and those who have a person/team do it for them. Secondly, business tweeters.. who promote their brand and little else. Lastly, the tweeters who remind me of prarie dogs – they just read the timelines (I am assuming) and comment on your tweets without following you and then they are gone again.
