Evangellyfish

Last week, Kent from Worship House told me about Evangellyfish, a novel by Douglas Wilson. Wilson, from what I can tell, is a pastor in Moscow, Idaho with a gift for fiction. Essentially, his story is a tale of two pastors, John Mitchell and Chad Lester. Mitchell is the pastor of a small church who finds himself confronted with the deviancy, facade, and overwhelming success of Lester, a popular but philandering megachurch pastor. For a better synopsis, check the site’s About page.

Not only does Wilson weave a good story, he also captures the humor and tragedy of local church ministry with precision The church politics, the covered-up scandals, the goofy ministry slogans, the shopping mall motif in which most megachurches are decorated and landscaped … they’re all accounted for in Evangellyfish.

Oh, and did I mention the best part? The book is being posted a chapter at a time at evangellyfish.com, so head on over and check it out. It’s a real page-turner. Um, page-scroller? Bookmarker? You get the idea.
