Our Favorite iPhone Apps

Let’s face it, whether you love it or hate it, the iPhone is a pretty sweet little gadget. Now, the recent addition of applications easily makes it the most versatile phone out there. With over 3,000 apps in the store and roughly 100 million downloaded already, it’s clear the apps are a huge hit. So we’ve decided to spotlight and recommend some of our favorite FREE apps that no iPhone owner should be without.

Bible – There are a handful of Bible applications for the iPhone, but most of them will cost you money or only come in the King James Version. However, thanks to LifeChurch.tv, we now have YouVersion’s FREE online Bible in our pocket with every version available.

Facebook – No need to explain this one. If you have Facebook and an iPhone, you should have this app. Check your friend’s status, send them a message, post of their wall, read their bio, or even use it as an address book.

Jott – Use this great app to record audio notes and then transcribe them into text. It will even send a text message or email with the transcribed audio. Set up an account online, upload your contacts, and get Jotting.

Movies – There are tons of great movie apps out there now, so this one is our personal preference. Movies uses your location to quickly find theaters around your, lets you browse movie titles and times, and even purchase tickets right over your phone.

Pandora – If you’re like us, you love music but can’t find a good radio station anywhere. Pandora’s app lets you customize a playlist of streaming music based on the bands you already like, and maybe even introducing you to new ones.

Remote –Turn your iPhone into a remote for your computer’s iTunes library over your local WiFi. Browse your entire library, play your songs, and adjust the volume, all from your iPhone.

Simplify – For those of use that have a huge music library that just won’t fit on our iPhones, there’s Simplify. Stream all of your music from your iTunes library right to your phone over WiFi, 3G, or Edge. Never worry about filling up your phone with music again.

Twitterlator – For all you Twitter addicts out there, Twitterlator allows you to tweet easily and quickly. Follow your Twitter friends, post tweets, even take a picture and post it easily inside the app. Other Twitter apps include Twitterific, TwitterFon, and Twittervision.

UrbanSpoon – Solve the dilemma of figuring out where you’re going out to eat after church with this app. Give it a shake and it will randomly choose a restaurant for you. No more waiting around for everyone to decide.

WeatherBug – Apple’s built in weather app only tells you the temperature and current conditions. Weatherbug takes it a step further to give you live radar and local images. Never get caught in the rain again without an umbrella.

Wikipanion – If you ever want to know a fact fast, what better place to go than Wikipedia. This dumbed down version of the website will get you the information you need in a jiffy.

WordPress – If you’re a blogger and you use WordPress, then you should have this app. It allows you to sign in to multiple accounts, manage and update your blog, post photos, and more.
