Expelled

This morning I took advantage of an opportunity to see a pre-screening of a documentary called Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed starring Ben Stein (who makes for a somewhat friendlier and less-mischievous Michael Moore). The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, so I can’t/won’t review it at this time. However, I’d like to extend to you a friendly invitation to keep an eye on this film. Here are a couple of things I think you should know about Expelled:

First, this is not an explicitly Christian film. I’m not sure about those involved with the production of the film, but Stein isn’t a Christian; he’s Jewish.

Second, speaking of what this film is not about, this film is not about the scientific validity of Creationism. Expelled is about Intelligent Design and the issue of academic freedom, or a lack thereof in the scientific community.

Third, toward the end of the film Stein interviews Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion. If you’re interested at all in the rise of New Atheism, this short interview is well worth the price of admission.

Currently, the official site for Expelled promises a February 2008 release for the film. Sign up for updates online to stay informed.

For anyone interested in this topic it would be well worth your time to check out the current message series at a church near Toronto called The Meeting House (themeetinghouse.ca) . The series is called “The God Debate- Responding to Atheist Fundamentalism”

    Some great stuff there!
