How Do You Launch a Sermon Series?

When Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA launches a sermon series, they really launch a sermon series. Take, for example, pastor Mark Driscoll’s newest series on the Song of Songs, “The Peasant Princess.” Mars Hill created an entirely separate website and domain just for the sermon series (www.peasantprincess.com). On this website you’ll find colorful, custom graphics and visuals, an intro video to the series, each week’s video sermon, special downloads, and more. This week, they even added a “Whac-A-Fox” game to the site, just in time for the State Fair of Texas to open.

I just want to applaud Mars Hill for creating such a useful, not to mention artistic, resource for a sermon series. Though your church might not have the resources, people, or cash to launch a website for each new sermon series, how do you go about launching a sermon series?

Though seeing Driscoll playing in a field with a pink re-incarnation of bambi is slightly unsettling…

Saw this the other day… At North Point, we do similar sitelets for launches of sermon series… can’t be sure we’ve created a game like whac-a-fox though…

we revently “campaigned” for a series launch like the candidates for office are doing. we did buttons, posters, and t-shirts for the entire month prior to the series.
