Your Church Media Christmas List

| By Scott McClellan | Found in Communication | 14 Comments

With Christmas mere days away, I got to wondering … what’s on your church media Christmas list this year? In other words, if you could ask Santa Claus (or the budget committee fairy) for one media/tech resource for your church this year, what would it be?

Would it be a new website? Maybe a RED camera? Perhaps a new projector, a Mac Pro, or some software?

Would it be an iPhone or a G1 (for ministry purposes, of course)? Or would it be a gift card to iStockPhoto?

Let me know what tops your wish list this year.

simply….a new projector to replace one that is fading fast.

We would be able to make great use out of 2-4 intelligent light fixtures. Our lighting set-up requires scaffolding to be set-up in order to adjust lights, it would be awesome to have some intelligent lighting!

I’m really praying for a job.
A job that gives me creative freedom and lets me really make media that God can change lives through.
    Thanks

…and a selfish one. An iPhone on a different network than AT&T. :)

Definitely a website. Ours pretty much sucks. We had a transfer of leadership and the website has sat idle for about 2 years with minimal updates and all the links to other pages have been disabled. Its pretty much useless and no one goes to it because so. I have big ideas, but am limited by budget and expertise. (Hence we signed up for the Clover contest).

And, I had to say it, I totally echo Chris Reardon’s wish for an iPhone on a network other than AT&T!

I really like pond5.com for stock video – it’s cheaper than iStock and theyallow you to set your own prices as a contributer (plus a bigger cut). I’d take credit to that for a source for motion elements that we create.

We need a Mac Pro in our office, so I can take our video production to the next level. Space is an issue on the Macbook Pro and horsepower is something I can always use more of…

I’m gonna go with Chris on this one…
I wish for a job. One that pays the bills. One that allows me the time to work on projects with excellence. One that allows me to take time and think of new ideas and allows me to really learn more about God, about what God wants to accomplish and things that make me better at what I do and on a day to day basis. I wish that my church would realize they need to hire someone to take on the jobs of media and fine arts rather than just rely on volunteers so that we can be more effective at being a part of what God is doing through pop culture and through the lives of our congregants.
That would the best Christmas present ever!!!!

At the top of my Christmas gear wish list would be a good 4 piece lighting kit for shooting videos. Natural lighting and a reflector just isn’t cutting it.

I’m blessed and I can’t complain. I would WISH for a Mac we could use to help with the media of the church. WISH.

I forgot to add that one of the things that was seriously missing from our ministry was a subscription to COLLIDE mag. But today, thanks to an awesome mother-in-law, we now can scratch it off the list!

Dear Santa, I know Christmas is over, but i have to ask you a few things?
Was there a MacBook Pro for our media booth and some more website budget left in your big red bag at the end of the day? It didn’t show up here on Christmas, so I assume it just got lost somewhere in chaotic day. Just checking…
