Remembering Daniel Darnell (Who Is Very Much Alive)

Friends, Daniel Darnell (COLLIDE staff writer since August 2008) has gone to a better place: Austin, Texas! In case you missed the announcement on the last episode of The COLLIDE Show, Daniel has accepted a position at Soma Austin Community Church where he’ll oversee worship and creative arts. Daniel has been an essential part of COLLIDE over the last year and a half, and I wanted to highlight a few of his best articles in case you missed them.

  • I Am Second — Daniel breaks down the story behind one of the best multimedia evangelism campaigns ever.
  • Our Entertainment Worship Culture — Daniel examines the fine line between entertainment and engagement in worship services. Tons of food for thought, and more than a little controversy.
  • Modern Worship Spaces — Daniel talks with a few design experts on what makes a great worship space.
  • Why Fixing Your Website Won’t Fix Your Ministry — Inspired by church leaders who expressed a hope that a new website would enable their ministry to finally reach the next generation, Daniel advises us not to put the cart before the horse.

I hope you enjoyed those articles; I know I did. Thanks for everything, Daniel!

Darniel… my keyboard shorted out from the tears the first time… here it goes again:

Thanks for all you did in your time here. You are a really talented guy and I'm excited that you get to pursue something that is such a big part of your talents. Thank you for always being willing to help with advertising and the website. Whatever we needed, you would always make it happen. Thanks again. You will be missed!

I am not a part of the Collide staff, but I will leave my words here. I anjoyed following collide while you were a contributor to the blog, and also the podcast. Your humor on the podcast made it awesome and you will be missed at Collide. Good luck in everything in the future with Soma Austin.
